Junior Civil Estimator

Our client is an established interdisciplinary civil contractor looking to add a junior estimator to their utility division.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

With over six decades of experience, our civil client offers a wide range of services, including the construction and maintenance of pipelines, utilities, and renewable energy projects, serving major Canadian utilities and municipalities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will be working in the utility division as a junior Estimator responsible for performing the quantity take-offs and helping the Senior Estimator with tenders. The head office is based in Vaughan,ON but they are open to candidates working out of their office near Edmonton, AB.

ABOUT THE POSITION

  • Assess Requests for Proposals (RFPs), addendums, and various contractual documents.
  • Engage in meetings with undisclosed parties, including clients, joint venture collaborators, and consultants.
  • Compile work breakdown structures, quantity assessments, and quotation requests
  • Identify local subcontractors and suppliers, acquire quotes, and generate comparison reports.
  • Contribute to preliminary and final cost estimations.
  • Evaluate project prospects, risks, and corresponding risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain extensive files with unidentifiable content for estimating purposes, including up-to-date information, vendor interactions, marketing materials, and existing price lists.
  • Review project experiences to enhance and disseminate lessons learned to unspecified office personnel

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 3+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil industry in urban and rural area
  • Degree or diploma in civil engineering is an asset
  • Previous experience with BlueBeam and Bid2Win is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

COMPENSATION

  • $65,000 to $85,000 salary based on experience
  • 2 to 3 weeks of vacation
  • RRSP matching
  • Extended health and dental benefits
