Job Opening for Permanent F/T Nursery Production Foreman at the address above

Reports directly to Nursery Manager

Responsibilities include:
-Organize, instruct and supervise field crews with differing skill levels and abilities while planting, harvesting, pruning and maintenance of ornamental nursery stock, including pruning, staking, fertilizing, digging and watering shade trees
-Organize, instruct and supervise the use of farm machinery used to harvest ornamental nursery stock including Bobcat track loaders and Optimal tree spades
-Liaison between Crew Members and Management
-Check sections for weeding and watering needs
-Pull orders as per Pulling List – must know different types of plants and quantity to pull
-Tag plants for orders where needed
-Train staff in safety procedures as required for each different job being performed
-Ability to ensure all work performed by Crew Members is done in a neat, orderly fashion including all tools put away, all garbage cleaned up and all equipment is in working order. Any equipment problems are to be fixed or passed on to Management
-Must have working knowledge of computerized irrigation system and the ability to repair and maintain such systems
-Organize and inform Management of any product shortages for the potting and yard areas such as:
-Fertilizer for top dressing
-Material for making soil mixes – bark mulch, soil amendments
-Stakes and ties for pruning and staking
-Irrigation parts for small repairs or damaged pipes
-Pots for plants
-Diesel fuel for equipment
-Other duties as assigned

Employment Requirements:
-Must have a minimum of four years practical nursery experience
-Must have a minimum of four years experience operating track loaders
-Must have a minimum of four years experience operating tree spades up to 45” root ball size
-Must have a working knowledge of loading and tarping large caliper shade trees
-Must have strong English skills in order to communicate with Management
-Must have grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent
-For safety reasons, preference will be given to individuals with Spanish skills with the ability communicate clearly with our seasonal workers
-Must be available to work weekend and overtime, especially during planting and harvesting seasons
-Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
-Must be bondable
