About the Opportunity

St. Martha's Internal Medicine Dept. are looking for a full time Respirologist to join the team at St Martha's Regional Hospital in the coastal community of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

The Internal Medicine Department subspecialties include General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Endocrinology, Respirology, and Intensive Care.

St Martha's Regional offers echocardiography, exercise stress testing with nuclear imaging and dobutamine stress testing, pacemaker insertion and follow up, endoscopy (therapeutic gastroscopy and
colonoscopy), PFTs and a Sleep Lab. There is a Cardiac Rehab Clinic managed by a Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with Internal Medicine Physicians. There are 2 full-time Respiratory Therapists on staff in the hospital.

Compensation is fee for service with flexible vacation time. In addition, specialists receive call stipends and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia.

SMRH is affiliated with Dalhousie Medical School and physicians are eligible to apply for a faculty position to support residents and learners at the site. Opportunities to participate in the soon-to-be-opened Medical Campus on Cape Breton Island will also be of interest to applicants.

Responsibilities

Provision of inpatient and community outpatient consultative services for Eastern Zone. St. Martha's Regional Hospital is a 90-bed, acute-care hospital located in Antigonish. The successful candidate will join the collegial internal medicine group who practice General Internal Medicine as well as their sub-specialty. All medicine physicians are expected to participate in the Internal Medicine call schedule, inpatient/ED subspecialty consultation services as required, and coverage of the 6-bed medical/surgical/cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

Qualifications

Candidates must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or eligible to take the Fellowship Exam in Internal Medicine. Must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
