Our client, an established manufacturing company, is seeking a facilitative and engaging leader to champion lean initiatives in their Winnipeg operations. As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of successfully implementing meaningful lean and continuous improvements through a collaborative approach. With over 50 years of dedicated service for their customers across Canada, our client has continually adapted their machine technology and product offering to meet the demands of the evolving marketplace. With the full support of the leadership team, harnessing lean process is the next necessary and logical next step for this driven organization. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Operations as the lean leader in the facility.

The Role

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be responsible for the evaluation, creation and execution of our client’s lean and continuous improvement strategy. This involves taking a collaborative approach to fully integrate and lead the operations team in Kaizen and other lean activities, 6 Sigma and other continuous improvement techniques that will positively impact operational delivery.

•Identify, evaluate and prioritize opportunities for continuous and lean improvement.
•Define the Lean project requirements and implement a program through all areas of the organization.
•Promote engagement while training, coaching and mentoring employees and supervisors to inspire a company culture that follows a Lean mindset and philosophy.
•Develop metrics and evaluate KPIs that measure the success of lean improvement initiatives.
•Optimize work flow and facility layout to effectively reduce batch size with the eventual goal of synchronous flow.
•Lead value stream and process mapping exercises to evaluate business and process improvement areas with a focus on work flow and eliminating waste.
•Align manufacturing and business processes for delivery excellence and cost savings.
•Assist in evaluating potential new equipment and participate in process design for new product introductions.
•Other lean and continuous improvement initiatives and activities as required.

The Candidate & Qualifications

•Lean Certification and / or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
•Demonstrated track record (minimum 3 years) of operational improvement through lean leadership and lean initiative implementation.
•Superior communication skills acting as a team player with all levels of the organization and strong attention to detail with respect to process documentation
•Post-secondary education in Business or Engineering is considered an asset
