The Child Safety Program Coordinator will work with the Executive Director and Mentoring Coordinators to review and further develop the agency’s “Strong from the Start” Child Safety Program. The “Strong from the Start” program has been developed by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and passed on to local agencies. The resources will be further developed and structured as a program to be delivered to clients of other youth serving agencies.

The “Strong from the Start” Child Safety Program is a key foundational component to fostering safe, enjoyable, meaningful, and healthy mentoring relationships. One of Big Brothers Big Sister’s core values is to maintain the highest standards of practice in order to deliver safe, quality mentoring programs to children and youth. Strong from the Start focuses on healthy relationships, with a key component being child safety. Our goal is to share the core components of this valuable resource with the communities we serve.

The Child Safety Program Coordinator will:
A. Review, further develop and assist with the delivery of the “Strong from the Start” Child Safety Program that is provided to all children, youth, volunteers and parents involved with BBBS.
B. Coordinate, plan, organize and facilitate this program for children, youth, parents and volunteers of other youth serving agencies.

Description détaillée: 
 attend training and orientation sessions as provided by the Executive Director or other agency staff
 thoroughly review the “Strong from the Start” Child Safety program and resources
 review other complimentary programs and resources and incorporate relevant content into the program
 assist current agency staff with the delivery of the child safety program to BBBS clients
 work with community partners to coordinate, plan, organize and deliver the program to small groups of people in other youth serving agencies within the BBBS service district (Sussex to Charlotte County)
 maintain attendance records and notes for each program delivered
 provide regular reports to Executive Director
 maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy
 perform administrative functions as required
 liaise with other youth service agencies, community groups, clubs or the general public as required
 assist with agency special events and fundraisers as required
 remain aware of federal and provincial privacy and Child Protection legislation and the agency’s privacy policies and practices
 report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect as per agency policy and the Family Services Act
 to perform all related job duties as requested by the Executive Director or designate
