Waste Disposal Operations Student (Co-op)
Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Waste Disposal Operations and Engineering Section is responsible for overseeing a total of 14 landfill sites - 2 operating landfills, 8 closed landfills and 4 naturalization sites in the Niagara Region. In addition, the Waste Disposal Operations and Engineering Section also operates 3 Residential Waste and Recycling Drop Off Depots. Reporting to the Supervisor, Waste Disposal Operations, the Co-op Technician will support the Waste Disposal Operations and Engineering Section's activities for ensuring that all facets of the Region's waste disposal operating systems and landfill monitoring remain in full compliance with Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) and other regulatory requirements by maintaining a current and comprehensive inspection and reporting system for all 14 landfill sites. The Co-op Technician will support Waste Disposal Operations Technologists in carrying out activities for ensuring that waste disposal facilities are maintained in a state of good condition and operating landfills are operated and maintained in accordance with Environmental Compliance Approvals, Development & Operating Plans and Operating Contracts The Co-op Technician will support Project Managers in administering contracts and service agreements for all landfill sites with external parties and contractors related to the management of the Region's closed landfill sites and in accordance with Environmental Compliance Approvals, Closure Plans and site use agreements. The Co-op Technician will support the overall Waste Disposal Operations and Engineering Section in managing special projects and other duties related to waste disposal operations, regulatory compliance and environmental monitoring. Location: Niagara Road 12 Landfill Site, 7015 Concession Road 7, West Lincoln. The Co-op Technician will be required to travel to different sites. A valid Ontario G class driver's license is required and access to a reliable vehicle is strongly preferred. Co-op Term: 8 months Hours of work : 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30pm , may be required to work some Saturdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain databases that support waste disposal operations and service delivery in a manner that meets Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA) and contractual requirements Develop and aintain database for monitoring closed landfill sites and after-use programs while ensuring that Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA) and Closure Plan requirements are covered and in accordance with established guidelines, procedures or protocols. Assist in coordinating scheduled inspections, landfill monitoring activities and asset maintenance activities for all sites - operating, closed and naturalization. Assist in conducting field observations and site monitoring activities performed by Landfill Technologists and coordinate with service providers responsible for specialized inspections and preparing reports based on field and laboratory sampling results for landfill gas, groundwater and surface water at all landfill sites to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance. Liaises with stakeholder and keeps current on the section's on-going asset management and state of good repair initiatives with particular reference to Waste Drop Off depot operations. Monitors and reports to the landfill operations team on status of on-going compliance activities - regulatory, contractual and ECA related. Assist in overseeing wastecompaction study at the Humberstone Landfill and Niagara Road 12 Landfill, including collecting and validating all data calculations. Provide assistance in data collection for GHG Report submission Perform monthly water level monitoring in the leachate collection system at various landfills. Provide assistance in the initiative to investigate if any of the Landfill Sites qualify as a "Wildlife at Work" site under the requirements of the Wildlife Habitat Council Performance of other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Enrollment in a relevant post-secondary Co-op program in Engineering, Environmental Management, Applied Science, Geography or equivalent Strong communication, organizational, documentation and facilitation skills Comfortable with facilitation and communication with front-line, supervisory, management and contractor staff Strong working knowledge and experience with MS Office applications and database management programs. Familiar with principles and practices as applied to a variety of waste management facilities and operations including waste transfer, recycling, composting, landfills (landfill gas and leachate collection and treatment systems, groundwater monitoring wells) and waste drop-off depots. Lorsque vous rejoignez notre équipe en tant que Superviseur Foresterie, relevant du Surintendant Foresterie et Certification, vous aurez la responsabilité d'assurer la coordination des activités de reddition de compte (rapport d'activité technique et financier). Vous assurez la supervision quotidienne de la vérification de la conformité des éléments à intégrer au RATF tels que : Respect des prescriptions sylvicoles; Réaliser la compilation d'inventaires; Production des rapports de contrôle; Suivi des programmes d'investissement; Différentes analyses (rétention et influence forestière); Gestion des volumes; Numérisation des polygones, chemins et infrastructures ponctuelles et ponts etc. Validation du respect réglementation et les mesures d'harmonisation (MHO); Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe. Ton profil Avoir un diplôme universitaire en foresterie et posséder de 1 à 3 ans d'expérience dans le domaine; Avoir de l'expérience dans l'utilisation de Microsoft Office, QGIS (ou l'équivalent); Membre en règle de l'Ordre des Ingénieurs Forestiers du Québec (OIFQ); Bien comprendre les exigences touchant la gestion forestière au Québec; Bonne maîtrise du français parlé et écrit; Pouvoir travailler de façon autonome avec un minimum de supervision au sein d'une équipe; Posséder de solides habiletés de communication; Être en mesure de développer de solides relations positives avec les partenaires; Posséder des compétences en leadership, être motivé à fournir des produits de haute qualité, avoir la souplesse nécessaire pour s'adapter à une variété de milieux de travail. En tant que chef(fe) de service vous devrez : Piloter l'ensemble des initiatives, depuis la rédaction des propositions jusqu'à la concrétisation des chantiers, avec un accompagnement éventuel d'un guide durant la première année; Encadrer de manière pointue l'équipe d'ingénierie, garantissant le respect des standards, normes, et méthodes dans les domaines de la conception, de l'élaboration de plans, et de la formulation des devis; Élaborer les plans et devis, qu'ils soient administratifs ou techniques, pour des projets liés au domaine du transport; Progressivement prendre part à la gestion et à l'administration de toutes les ressources humaines de l'équipe dédiée au transport et la mobilité intelligente; Intervenir à divers stades des projets, débutant par l'étude d'opportunité, la conception des plans et devis, et s'étendant jusqu'à la phase de construction (surveillance); Effectuer la vérification et l'approbation des livrables tels que les plans, devis, rapports, etc ; Cultiver les relations avec la clientèle dans l'optique d'atteindre les objectifs financiers de l'entreprise et de répondre aux besoins spécifiques des clients; Garantir le respect rigoureux des budgets et des échéanciers pour l'ensemble des projets. Vos qualités et expériences : Baccalauréat en génie électrique ; Membre de l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ; Expérience pertinente de minimum 5 ans en éclairage; Expérience en conception et surveillance de travaux de construction ; Maîtrise des logiciels AGI32 et autocad; Aptitudes à travailler au sein d'une équipe multidisciplinaire ; Autonomie et débrouillardise ; Très bon français écrit et parlé.
