Role Summary

MASSIV Automated Systems, an advanced technology-based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated/robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry. Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding. Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.

We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry! Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.

The Tool and Die Apprentice must fulfil requirements of apprenticeship contract as per Ministry of Education and Training guidelines and complete all tasks and assignments within the trade under the direction of a Journeyman or independently.

Key Responsibilities

? Fulfil requirements of apprenticeship contract as per Ministry of Education and Training guidelines (Training Standard - Skills, Contract Hours and Theoretical Training)
? Complete all tasks and assignments within the trade under the direction of a Journeyman or independently
? Complete all theoretical training as per government (Ministry of Education and Training) regulation (Basic, Intermediate and Advance level schooling) and pass required exams
? Complete the Tool and Die Provincial Trade Exam once confirmation of apprenticeship training is given
? Maintain and operate various machines (Lathe, Bridgeport Mill, Saw) tools and related equipment accurately and efficiently
? Read and interpret blueprint drawings to tolerances
? Design, build or modify new and existing fixtures
? Layout and inspect set up of various tooling and equipment
? Test fixtures by setting up and producing samples
? Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and know how to properly lock out all energy sources, including stored energy
? Consult your Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor if you are not 100% sure of how to perform tasks in a safe manner
? Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas
? Know what types of Personal Protective Equipment are required for the jobs in your area and always use them properly
? Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy and organized at all times to prevent accidents and produce quality products
? Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
? Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world class quality products are supplied to our customers
? Perform other related duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

? Successful completion of Grade 12 and Magna Apprentice Training Assessment Test
? Candidate must meet Ministry of Education and Training standards and provide evidence of a minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalency in accordance with the Apprenticeship & Certification Act
? Absence of such records - candidate required to successfully complete the ''GED'' prior to application
? Good mathematical and organizational skills
? Good verbal and written communication skills
? Must be able to read and interpret part prints/drawings
? Be capable of meeting deadlines with accuracy
? Capable of managing multiple tasks within the trade
? Must have own tools
