About Us As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. What is the Opportunity? Work directly with the technical design engineers in charge of approval of temporary works and safety/quality team when performing field inspections. Adhere to the work schedule to ensure inspection of temporary structures are completed on time. Provide technical support to the filed team. Review technical documentation including: CWP, drawings, operation and/or installation manual of construction equipment. Prepare and issue a formal engineering report describing the outcome of the inspection process and any actions required by the filed team to ensure compliance of the installation and/or equipment involved. Conduct engineering reviews of reports generated by other inspectors and provide constructive feedback for the purpose of improvement. Directly interface with filed team to understand their needs and work with TS design engineers to provide the most cost-effective design solutions and provide concepts. Perform engineering inspection of formwork, shoring, scaffolding, working platforms, access structures, tie off, and other temporary structures for various kinds of construction activities, and check/work closely with filed team to ensure the installation and/or equipment meet national and local standards (e.g. CSA, OHSA, and National and Provincial Building Codes); Participate in preparing general arrangement, assembly, fabrication drawing, and installation plan for all formwork and temporary steel structures. Prepare engineering-inspection related documents, such as transmittals, site visit reports and pre-pour engineering certificate and reports. Support field team when required. Work close with 3rd party and site service team to complete supply, inspection, and removal of formwork and falsework materials, scaffolding equipment, swing stages, man basket, working platforms, hatch covers, cat walks, ladder, jumping platform and all other TS. Prepare plan for installation, dismantling all shoring system including stripping, shoring/reshoring. Supervise and monitoring anchorage points for formwork, falsework, working at height, and scaffolding. Complete document and physical inspection for below the hook equipment, lifting points and lugs, and other construction equipment. What You Bring to the Table: 8 - 15 years experience as a Project Field Coordinator or Field Engineer. Registration as a P.Eng. or E.I.T. with Canadian Engineering Associations. Familiar with North American safety codes and standards including CSA, ACI, ANSI, AISC and NBC Hands-on experience in formwork and falsework including installation, assembly, disassembly, dismantling and reshoring. Experience temporary structures of heavy civil construction. Experience with construction safety requirements including applicable safety regulation and standards. Strong written and oral communication skills and computer skills. Proven ability to handle a number of activites simultaneously in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to interact with field construction team in a positive manner and deal with situations that may involve conflict resolution.
