Role Summary

MASSIV Automated Systems, an advanced technology-based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated/robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry. Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding. Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.

We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry! Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.

The Toolmaker/Dimensional/Finisher is responsible for Finishing tools, fixtures and associated equipment used primarily within robotic/automated assembly lines for the automotive industry. The Toolmaker/Dimensional/Finisher is also responsible for final line integration, and adjusting tooling to ensure correct part fit up. Experience in interpreting CMM reports in relation to tooling geometry is considered a necessary asset, in order to perform the necessary studies.

Key Responsibilities

? Assist with design, build or modify new, and existing tooling and fixtures for automated systems lines
? Inspect, layout, debug, and measure equipment, and parts (completed tools, hemmers and fixtures) for proper operation
? Troubleshoot, repair, and test existing tools and fixtures as required.
? Analyze BIW (Body in White) measurement reports (CMM, etc.)
? Composing product "re-work" instructions.
? Confirm results of internal and external changes.
? Confirm stamping/assembly parts in regards to dimensional accuracy and consistency in the manufacturing process.
? Analyze root causes of problems through evaluation of measurement data and ''hands on'' panel/fixture fit techniques.
? Follow up on quality issues.
? Develop "countermeasures" to resolve problems.
? Provide continuous guidance, and training to Tool & Die Apprentices as assigned
? Communicate necessary information to Program Manager/Assistant Supervisor and co-workers from shift to shift
? Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, and know how to properly lock out all energy sources, including stored energy
? Consult your Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor if you are not 100% sure of how to perform tasks in a safe manner
? Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas
? Know what types of Personal Protective Equipment are required for the jobs in your area, and always use them properly
? Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy, and organized at all times to prevent accidents, and produce quality products
? Report all unusual circumstances, and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
? Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world class quality products are supplied to our customers
? Perform other related duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

? Recognized Certificate of Qualification as a Tool and Die Maker or equivalent.
? Minimum 5 years' experience in automotive assembly / tooling or assembly systems.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

? Operating knowledge of all equipment, and machines in mechanical department.
? Knowledge of stampings, and hemming preferred.
? Ability to read/interpret blue prints, specifications, and tolerances accurately.
? Must be able to evaluate Inner/Outer panels cosmetically, and the specifications to GD&T.
? Must be able to document changes required on panels in a clear and understanding fashion.
? Good communication skills.
? Good organizational skills.
? Strong understanding of welding, hemming and gluing processes.
? Must have own tools.
? Ability to work as a team member, and individually.
? Ability to manage multiple tasks within the trade.
? MS Office and ppt computer skills preferred.
? Must have the ability to travel nationally and internationally, with up to date travel documents (Passport).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

? Office and shop floor environment
? Overtime and weekend work is expected, as is work on off-shifts/rotating shifts, which may be required if deemed necessary, depending on circumstances, and workload.
? Independence/drive/motivation is expected as major parts of the typical work day will require self-guided work in a team environment.
? Day/overnight and/or extended travel required to customers sites, Nationally, and Internationally.
