Under the authority of the General Manager, the Road Construction Area Manager directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, within set budgets and agreed timescales, and delivering high standards of customer service. Functionally reporting directly to the President, the incumbent is expected to demonstrate a high degree of personal initiatives and self-motivation in carrying out his duties and responsibilities.

Description détaillée: 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for effectively managing the Area Construction function to ensure best practices are followed, costs are controlled, the area maximises revenue generation and contribution to the company’s operating profit and increases the value added to the company.
- Ensure materials and equipment are use accordingly to contract specifications
- Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner along with sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews
- Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained and used effectively
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications
- Attending meetings and dealings with any staff issues as required
- Able to build effective working relationships and being a strong team player and team builder to ensure all targets are achieved

REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from a recognized college with a Degree in Engineering (Civil preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years successful experience with both small and large projects, in technical as well as project management and construction roles, with a focus on road construction
- Demonstrated leadership skills in developing and leading diverse work teams
- Strong understanding of project management processes and management systems
- Prior experience interfacing with and managing delivery of large scopes with projects execution
- Contract administration experience
- Strong background with resolution of technical / management issues during project execution phase
- Extensive knowledge, including design, construction and completions, road construction materials, heavy equipment operations and industry requirements
- On-site construction supervision experience considered an asset
- Proven ability to deliver
