Urban One Builders #301 - 611 Alexander Street Vancouver, BC V6A 1E1 Urban One Builders is a leading-edge construction company that specializes in commercial, industrial and residential projects in BC and Alberta. We have worked on numerous landmark projects, comprised mainly of large multi-tower, multi-phase mixed-use, multi-family residential and institutional projects. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager to join our our team. This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our Vancouver office, with responsibility for various projects throughout the Metro Vancouver area. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent will be responsible for leading projects from inception to completion, working collaboratively with our Estimating, Project Coordination, Site Supervision, Clients and Trade partners, and ensuring quality work and client satisfaction. The Project Manager is responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with Urban One's quality management program. Specific duties include - but are not limited to - preparing and/or overseeing preparation of the project budget; tendering, negotiating and preparing trade contracts and purchase agreements; developing and monitoring the project budget, as well as reviewing trade billing and cost allocations; developing and maintaining construction schedules; ensuring that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings and applicable building codes; maintaining, tracking and reporting all financial aspects of projects; managing, monitoring and correcting project construction to ensure compliance with the construction schedule, budget and contract; preparing formal notices of construction cost and delay claims. The Project Manager is also responsible for hiring the temporary workforce, as well as providing orientation and training, assigning work, evaluating performance, resolving complaints and undertaking disciplinary actions. REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology or Construction Management, along with at least 5 years' related work experience. Must have at least 3 to 5 years' experience as an Assistant Project Manager or a similar role, and have demonstrated experience on high-rise projects. Possession of PMP designation, LEED AP or Gold Seal accreditation is an asset. Must possess knowledge of technical construction aspects and legal/contracting issues to help resolve complaints and disciplinary actions, including experience negotiating contract disputes and major trade claims. Demonstrated leadership in areas of health, safety and environmental protection. Must possess the following technical competencies: cost control; contract/procurement control; schedule tracking/planning; quality management; self- and team-management; and safety compliance. SALARY & BENEFITS Salary of $120,000 per annum, based on a 40 hour work week. Benefits include 3 weeks' vacation per year, extended health, dental and insurance coverage, $500 health spending account, as well as participation in a discretionary year-end bonus program.
