POSITION: Personal Caregiver for Person with a Disability. Full-Time, Part-Time, Morning/Day/Night & Overnight positions available. Live-in and Live-out opportunities available. LOCATION: My private home located in North Vancouver, BC (Norgate area adjacent to Lion's Gate Bridge). Optional accomodation is available at no charge on a live-in basis. Note: This is not a condition of employment. ABOUT ME: I have a significant physical disability (neuromuscular disorder) and utilize an electric wheelchair for mobility but I am very active in the community and with my family and require broad personal care assistance to ensure that I am ready to do everything planned for my day. JOB DESCRIPTION: I am seeking individual(s) to assist with various shifts throughout the week. My disability necessitates assistance with all elements of personal care, including, but not limited to, assisting me with dressing, undressing, bathing, personal hygiene, transfers, eating, etc. The position will also include the preparation of nutritious meals, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, laundry, washing dishes and making beds and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Previous knowledge and experience utilizing ceiling track lifts and BiPAP is an asset but not required. The position requires completion of secondary school, completion of a training program in disability care or a related field or a minimum of one year work related experience but this is not mandatory as I will train. The position will appeal to individual(s) who have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and are prepared to take on a variety of tasks. Individuals that are fluent in English, reliable, flexible and that are able to take initiative will be given strong consideration. SALARY: Salary and benefits, which may include health insurance, will be dependent on qualifications for the position but will fall at or above the posted medium wage requirements in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
