• Remove old fringe from rugs by hand
• Remove and replace backings on tufter carpets
• Binding, alterations and re-latexing backings of highly expensive and traditional carpets;
• Sewing sleeves for wall hanging, reinforcing weak areas and replacing and removing fringe;
• Wool binding, invisible re-weaving and lock stitching;
• Patching, blocking and colour correcting;
• Set up machines and equipment;
• Ensure health and safety regulations;
• Identify rug type and colour fastness in order to apply the proper washing method to different rug types. Rug identification skills are required.
• Understanding which rugs are a colour risk and how to safely wash them
• Working well with the wash team and liaising with office to ensure client services and deadlines are met
• Repair minor mechanical problems such as broken or defective needles
• Investigate machine stoppages
