Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for planning, directing and controlling the administration therapeutics and educational activities related to the provision of Respiratory therapy services for the Portage District General Hospital. The incumbent provides clinical support to the Physicians and Practitioners in the clinics by co-coordinating and managing client needs when referred for Respiratory Care.


This role includes all aspects of client diagnosis, education, self-management and follow-up. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate from an approved School of Respiratory Therapy Program, accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education

  • Active membership and in good standing with the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists

  • Current BCLS certification

Qualifications and Skills
