Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) is a licensed nuclear installation operated by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) under contract with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL). Located in Chalk River, Ontario, approximately 200 km northwest of Ottawa, the CRL site is approximately 3848 hectares in area, divided into a Built-Up Area and Outer Area. The Inner Area is divided into a Controlled Area, in which radiological work takes place, and the Supervised Area, where some radiological and most non-radiological work takes place. There are other Controlled Areas in the Outer Area. There are approximately 150 buildings on site, mostly located in the Inner Area, and a population of over 3,200 employees and contractors engaged in activities ranging from scientific research and nuclear waste management, to construction and maintenance, to administration. What You'll Do Here Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging. Support project specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and procedures including; inspections, audits, observation and coaching, Worker Trades Committee and JHSC Advise and train project staff on the requirements of conventional safety procedures; Hot Work, Working at Heights, Dropped Object Prevention, Confined Spaces, Working on or around Electrical Equipment, Ergonomics, Working Around Moving Equipment Track and report safety-related statistics, help manage Return to Work and review Modified duties cases at the field level; Additional detailed requirements as outlined in the Project Specific EHS and related programs Complete in field observations and behavioral based observations Collect WBGT readings if required in the field and communicate potential High Hazards and suggest controls to supervision and construction Assist in communicating safety messaging in Safety Meetings as well as Safety Standups Support Human Performance program activities Assist in development of Safe Work Plans, JSA, High Hazard Assessments, Critical Material Handling and Lift plans as well as provide feedback to supervisors on Pre Job Briefs and task assignment/assessment. Complete site Audits and provide feedback to EHS management on status of EHS management system Proficiency and Knowledge with the following are an asset: PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Site Docs, Cority, ISN, Radiation Protection What You Bring To The Team Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the construction industry Relevant Post Secondary education or equivalent experience in the H&S field A designation such as CHSO, CRSP, CRST, or Gold Seal is an asset but not a requirement A Team Player that is adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups is an asset Be a champion of inclusion and diversity OPG Security Clearance would be considered an asset Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
