THE ROLE

The Family Information Line Counsellor will plan, organize, and coordinate the operations and delivery of the Virtual MFRC. They will assess and review client needs and identify which program or service best responds to the client request and/or need. They will provide individual, couple, family counselling to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families and/or refers clients to alternate professional and community resources. They will provide crisis intervention to CAF members and their families as well as program consultation to CAF members, their families and military entities.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in Social Work, Sociology or a related field

AND

Several years of experience in social services or in a related field

Experience

  • In researching, planning, organizing, and coordinating operations and delivery of information and counselling services
  • In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
  • In supportive counselling
  • In crisis intervention
  • In critical incident stress debrief procedures
  • In coordinating projects
  • In using various communication systems
  • In facilitating and monitoring social media sites
  • In planning and conducting presentations
  • In preparing reports
  • In building working rapport
  • In virtual programming
  • In the mental health industry, an asset

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Bilingual Essential

Reading: Advanced Level

Writing: Functional Level

Oral: Advanced Level

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • The incumbent will be required to be available during daytime hours, evening hours and weekend shifts.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be available to cover absences and vacancies.
  • This position may require some travel.
  • Due to COVID-19, health and safety considerations are being taken and this position may be asked to remote/tele-work.
