Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Licensing Officer to join the Long Term Care team supporting Vancouver, Richmond, and North Vancouver. Apply today to join our team!

As a Licensing Officer with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Monitor and investigate long term care facilities to ensure continuing compliance with the provincial Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, physicians, educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in long term care facilities.
  • Provide regional support to Licensing Officers on technical issues related to occupational/physical therapy, as required.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
    OR

  • Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC). Eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC).

  • Two (2) years' recent, related clinical experience in the field of adult and/or adolescent residential or residential-based programs including recent experience in quality assurance, accreditation review or licensing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the provincial statutes related to Community Care Facilities Licensing. Demonstrated knowledge of the provision of quality care within licensed residential care facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in the inspection and assessment of community care facilities.
  • Broad knowledge of either the COTBC or CPTBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational therapy / physical therapy standardized tests and measures.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate complaints and reportable incidents, identify infractions and violations, and make recommendations and orders regarding corrective action.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of quality assurance/quality improvement. Working knowledge of community health services.
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention and community resources. Demonstrated ability to teach and coach facility staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload, take initiative, be flexible, work independently and use a cooperative approach to program delivery.
  • Ability to work effectively, respectfully and with tact with a culturally diverse population.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
