- Identifies nature of malfunction of equipment and appliances such as wheelchairs, paging systems, toasters, food mixers and blenders; performs electrical and mechanical repairs by disassembling motors and equipment, cleaning, oiling, greasing and replacing parts such as brushes, elements, bearings, filters, belts, wires and soldering connections.
- Maintains related preventative maintenance inspection reports, records and documents, as required; logs activities such as preventative and demand work, test results on fire alarms, auxiliary generators, HVAC systems etc.; completes, collates and files documentation in accordance with established standards and procedures.
- Maintains working areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Works with Supervisor in developing and maintaining rolling stock program at CGH.
- Repairs furniture such as tables, cupboards and shelves; repairs items such as walls, doors, floors, ceilings and windows by applying materials such as drywall, wood paneling, wallpaper, millwork, drapery tracks, glass and locks; constructs such items as shelves and cupboards.
- Applies paint and other finishes by brush, roller or spray; removes and replaces coverings such as tiles, linoleum, carpets and baseboards.
- Performs electrical maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, switches, electric plugs, extension cords, sockets and receptacles; checks all electrical equipment for CSA approvals.
- Replaces, repairs and maintains plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and plumbing fixtures. Unplugs drains, toilets, blocked sewer lines, etc.
- Checks and changes medical gas cylinders, delivers where required.
- Collects and disposes garbage on an as required basis; cleans, clears snow, and sands pathways as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
