Choisit le fil, les boulons, les gabarits, etc. selon les spécifications des bons de travail, les chartes ou la couleur du matériel par exemple. Coupe et assemble les différents éléments de tissus ou de bois soit par couture, par collage, par insertion, par agrafage, par clouage, etc. Fixe la bourre à la structure par collage ou par agrafage et effectue la coupe pour obtenir les profils et formes spécifiés. Recouvre les composantes de structure bourrée avec les différents matériaux de recouvrement assemblés ou non, en étirant et étendant cette dernière afin de s'adapter à la structure et obtenir les profils spécifiés. Regroupe et assemble les différentes composantes rembourrées entre elles afin de monter le fauteuil ou la chaise. Ajoute les autres pièces telles que bras, mécanismes, piétements, etc. Nettoie, coupe les fils et la garniture en excédent afin que le produit soit esthétiquement conforme et sans défaut apparent selon les normes établies. Effectue une inspection finale du produit afin de s'assurer qu'il est conforme à la commande, entièrement fonctionnel.
