• Read and work from blueprints or follow verbal instructions and interpret engineering drawings to determine machining operations and industrial repair including aircraft parts repair work to be performed.
• Use various measuring devices to perform, lay out work pieces and manufacture a wide range of parts to drawing specifications.
• Rework various transmission and turbine engine components including but not limited to bearing liners, locating diameters and faces.
• Set up machine; operate variety of manual machining and measuring including but not limited to milling, lathing, cylindrical grinding, boring, drilling holes and welding as primary duties; understand how to program and function CNC tools as necessary.
• Verify parts to drawing specifications and dimensions of products for accuracy.
• Clean, maintain and repair machine devices and measuring tools.
• Record deviations from specification and tolerances and report to manager.
• Perform and maintain inspection check periodically, complete and maintain inspection reports.
• Set up large machines and program machine tools for use when necessary.
• Assemble machined metal parts when necessary.
Skill requirements
• Completion of secondary school.
• Five years of experience as a manual machinist.
• A combination of minimum four to six years of mechanical work experience and/or industry courses.
• Must be able to work close tolerances and fine finishes.
• Must be positive, tidy and cooperate well with others.
• Must be able to do heavy lifting and work in a fast paced environment.
• Some knowledge in CNC tools programming is a great asset.
• Red Seal endorsement is not required but is an asset.
