We are currently hiring detention agents in the Vancouver and Richmond areas.

As a detention agent, you are responsible to ensure the security in the detention facilities situated in Vancouver and in Vancouver International Airport, in Richmond. You will also occasionally have to transport detainees to their destination. If you are interested in having responsibilities similar to those of police officers, this is a job for you!

On a typical day, you will be responsible of:

-Monitoring and controlling designated areas inside and outside sites
-Carrying out frequent and unscheduled inspections of premises and reporting irregularities
-Ensuring a safe and secure control and custody of all detainees
-Ensuring the control and safe custody of detainees during their transport;
-Escorting detainees coming from or going to various Provincial and Federal institutions, police stations, courthouses, IRB offices, hospitals, consular offices or embassies to their end destination
-Searching a detainee and luggage in accordance with the client’s procedures and the Standing Orders
-Immediately reporting any major incidents, such as escapes, emergencies, security breaches, use of force, breakage of or damage to the client’s property or equipment, and any other incident involving a detainee
-Informing visitors of the specific rules and policies of the detention facility
-Completing various reports and forms as required by the client
-Correctly using and applying the client’s approved restraining devices and equipment

You are the ideal candidate for this position because you possess:

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Computer literate with a Grade 12 or GED certificate
-A valid BC Security Worker license
-A class 5 or 4 driving licence
-Physical fitness and able to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
-Availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week availability
-Previous experience from high profile and complex security assignments
-AST and OFA 1 with AED certificates are assets, but not mandatory
