Role:
Reporting to the Coordinator - Mechanical Maintenance, the machinist (conventional) operates machines and tools within the department to repair, modify and create precision parts.
Responsibilities:
- Know and respect at all times the quality and food safety standards, occupational health and safety regulations and company policies;
- Examine work orders and read the drawings to determine the machining operations required;
- Set up and operate machining units to carry out operations such as turning, milling, drilling, reaming, planing, lapping, broaching, rectification or other;
- Optimize cutting settings and adjust off-sets if necessary;
- Proceed with the machining of the initial part and control its dimensions using appropriate measuring instruments and make necessary adjustments to produce quality parts;
- Inspect and measure machined parts;
- Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment;
- TIG welding;
- Mechanical assembly;
- Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery or equipment such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyers, boilers, etc. while respecting the plans and using manual and electrical tools;
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
