SGS Canada is currently seeking an Operator to join our Tailings & Wildlife team in the Alberta Oil Sands.
The Operator provides support for routine operational and maintenance duties in support of tailings pond, extraction, upgrading or mining operations. This is a manual labour position which is sometimes physically demanding as well as repetitive in nature.
SGS Canada Tailings Operators duties include:
Bird deterrent activities.
Tailings line moves / barge moves / water supply lines moves.
Pump maintenance, cannon / effigy maintenance.
Operation of boats, picker trucks, bobcats, loaders, forklifts, etc.
In addition, the individual may be ask to assist in technical tasks including pond sampling and sounding, insitu testing, instrumentation installations, mudline and pond elevation surveys, and other related duties.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada without sponsorship.
Must have current Oil Sands Safety Association Basic Safety Orientation (OSSA BSO) or an OSSA ORO and CSTS-09 safety ticket.
Previous manual labour experience (strong desire for Oil Sands Tailings experience).
Be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol as well as Criminal Record Check.
Have a valid Driver's Licence and be able to provide a clean 5 year drivers abstract.
A Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC) is considered an asset.
