The Head and Assistant cooks are primarily coordinators and supervisors of the kitchen. They are accountable to the Camp Manager and Directors and will collaborate with the Kitchen Aides in the preparation of all meals and snacks.

- To prepare and serve all meals and snacks economically and as part of a well-balanced diet.
- To maintain, in conjunction with the Camp Director, the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining hall, coolers and freezers.
- To order all groceries and kitchen supplies with the help of the Camp Director.
- To ensure all health and safety steps necessary to prevent the spoilage of food or food poisoning.
- To provide when possible opportunities for Kitchen Aides to serve and prepare entire meals or barbecues.
- To find ways to build community and to maintain a relaxed atmosphere in the dining hall (ex: Two lines for food pickup help to speed food lines - this allows people to eat together more often).
