The Thermal Spray Process Engineer is responsible for driving development and improvement of coatings processes through manufacturing process engineering initiatives as well as development and implementation of new procedures, which increase productivity, accuracy and drive down cost. Position is also responsible for optimizing the use of robotics and other equipment in the spray process.

Detailed description: 
Initiates new processes to ensure that what is outlined in planning is performed properly in development and production.
Serve as a key resource for the Site Manager in the development of measurable thermal spray process improvement strategies.
In collaboration with lab technicians, designs and executes spray process experiments and performs applicable analysis to understand areas of improvement opportunity
Implements method changes that reduce cost of production and progress toward reaching budgeted goal.
Evaluate the in-process effectiveness of all tooling and make recommendations to improve tooling and fixture design.
Utilizes Six Sigma methodologies to identify causes of defects, reduce waste and drive out production costs
Stays knowledgeable of technology changes and suggests new methods and equipment to keep the company at a competitive edge at all times

• Bachelor degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on metallurgy, machinery and robotics

Working experience
Qualifications required: 
• Bachelor degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on metallurgy, machinery and robotics
• 3+ years experience in manufacturing process engineering functions
• Proven ability to analyze procedures and processes and evaluate and develop solutions to problems
• Strong ability to communicate with plant leadership and operators
• Solid computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.) is required
• Basic knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts
• Previous working experience with surface coatings and/or other special processes. HVOF and Plasma spray experience is preferred.
