There are no acute care beds on site; however the closest acute care hospital is located nearby in Penticton only 47 kilometers away. Keremeos has 2 ER stretchers and is responsible for stabilizing patients for transfer to Penticton. The site includes a physician office group of 5 physicians and one is on call for the ER. The nurses responsibility is the ER first and then helping out in the physician's offices when not busy. The ER has no overnight beds. As the sole RN on shift, you will work autonomously and collaboratively with the Physician to deliver excellence in patient centered care. After hours and on Sundays the Physician is on call. The nurse works until 6pm as it is often needed to finish up sending clients to Penticton and re-ordering medications etc. There is a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, and Lab available on day shift for a portion of the week.
