PURCHASING ASSISTANT

Our client provides nationally recognized brands and private label consumer electronic product such as party supplies, pet and BBQ accessories is looking for a Purchasing Assistant who shall report to the Product Development Manager



RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Dealing with suppliers in CHINA
• Correspond with local and overseas suppliers with respect to price, product, packaging, artwork, delivery dates and shipping & prepare purchase orders;
• Negotiate price, MOQ's, lead time and shipping with suppliers and forwarders;
• Manage outstanding orders and follow ups to ensure appropriate documentation and that production and shipment are on schedule;
• Participate and assist in the preparation for monthly purchasing meetings and inventory management;
• Maintain a status schedule of overseas orders until arrival at warehouse;
• Coordinate pick-ups and documentation with forwarders, custom brokers and banks;
• Being involved in quality control aspects from time to time;
• Prepare landed cost reports or others as needed;
• Advise suppliers which forwarder to use based on urgency of shipment;
• Identify new suppliers and negotiate prices with help of our China office;
• Consolidate items between suppliers to control transportation costs;
• Weekly follow up on orders, booking requests and custom brokers;
• Help with new product development and for preparation of product development meetings;
• Confirm shipping marks and shipping samples with suppliers;
• Interact with accounts payable dept. to coordinate payments and final documentation;
• Provide inventory status, quantities ordered, arrival dates;
• Filing of correspondences;


QUALIFICATIONS :

• At least two (2) years related experience.
• Computer literate with the Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Detailed and conscientious
• Good judgement
• Perform rapidly simple math
• Good communicator
• Organisational and planning skills
• French and English, written and spoken with an emphasis on written English.
